Lucknow is the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state of India. Lucknow is also the administrative  headquarters of Lucknow District and Lucknow Division. Lucknow is popularly known as the The City of Nawabs. It is also known as the Golden City of the East, Shiraz-i-Hind and The Constantinople of India. Today, Lucknow is a vibrant city that is witnessing an economic boom and is among the top ten fastest growing non-major-metropolitan cities of India. It is the second largest city in Uttar Pradesh state. The unique combination of its cultured grace and newly acquired pace is its most promising feature that augurs well for the future.

Lucknow Development Authority established in 1974 under the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning & Development Act 1973, LDA has  progressed from small beginnings to embrace an overreaching authority in the development scenario of Lucknow. In consonance  with the aspirations of modern India, LDA aims at coordinated and planned development of a historical city: to enable Lucknow  to achieve pride of place as the worthy capital of the largest State of the country which has played a very important role in  the Freedom Struggle, to extend urban infrastructure to absorb the pressures of a rapidly changing society, and to provide an  environment which would enable the utmost satisfaction level of all sections of its inhabitants.

With the growth of urbanisation, cities have been expanding  alarmingly in the last few decades, which has resulted in haphazard growth of urban areas as well as acute housing shortage. Housing and Urban Planning Department was established to ensure planned development of urban areas and create an enabling environment to provide affordable housing. LDA Projects

• The Gomti Nagar Scheme by LDA on the Lucknow – Faizabad highway in close proximity of Hazratganj and Vidhan Sabha areas is a highly appreciated housing project by LDA.
